The Mountain School at Winhall’s Strategic Plan
Since opening in 1998, The Mountain School at Winhall has stayed true to its founding purpose: serving the children of Winhall and Stratton (and surrounding communities) through an exceptional education in an intentionally small community where every student is known and feels like family. As an independent school with a public mission, MSW has always been rooted in service, strengthened by partnership, and guided by our values of curiosity, confidence, competence, and kindness.
Beginning in 2021, the Board of Trustees and school leadership undertook a deep review of MSW’s mission and long-term direction. This work grew through our decennial accreditation and evolved into a full strategic planning process. For the past two and a half years, we have refined and implemented this plan while continuing to adapt and respond to the needs of our students and community.
The result is Building a Sustainable Future: Strategic Plan 2023–2033 The Mountain School at Winhall. This living document guides our decisions in academics, faculty development, campus stewardship, financial sustainability, and community partnerships. It reflects both where we have come from and where we are heading as we work to ensure MSW remains strong for the next generation of learners.
