GREENHOUSE & AGRICULTURAL PROGRAM

The MSW Community Farm

In the MSW youth agriculture program at the MSW Community Farm, students in grades K-6 engage in a hands-on learning experience that nurtures their understanding of agriculture and plant life. Our four-season greenhouse located next to the Outpost outdoor classroom is the newest addition to the MSW campus built in the summer of 2023. Activities in the youth agriculture program include cultivating various crops, learning about sustainable farming practices, and mastering the art of greenhouse management.

Students gain practical skills in planting, watering, and maintaining crops, fostering a deep connection to the agricultural process. The program also emphasizes environmental stewardship, teaching young minds about the importance of responsible and eco-friendly farming techniques. Through this immersive experience, participants not only cultivate a love for agriculture but also develop valuable life skills, teamwork, and a profound appreciation for the natural world.

Overall, the greenhouse serves as a dynamic classroom where theoretical knowledge transforms into tangible, green-thumb expertise. Students will culminate their studies each year with a spring plant sale and ultimately the school hopes to have it’s own food stand filled with vegetables grown by students.
