Mountain Explorer Tuition & Fees

At The Mountain School at Winhall, we believe an exceptional early childhood experience should be accessible to families throughout our community.

Mountain Explorers is a five-day, full-day Pre-K program combining strong Kindergarten preparation with nature, play, exploration, community and adventure.

Mountain Explorers was intentionally priced to make an outstanding independent-school Pre-K experience accessible to more families.

2027–28 Tuition

Full Academic Year: $12,500

Tuition includes the full Mountain Explorers experience, including classroom learning, outdoor exploration, Forest School experiences, STEAM, community activities and experiential learning.

January–June 2027 Founding Semester

Mountain Explorers launches in January 2027.

January–June Tuition: $6,250

Families joining our inaugural class will receive the same full-day Mountain Explorers experience during the spring semester.

Five Days — With Flexibility for Families

Mountain Explorers is designed as a five-day, full-day program because consistency, relationships and belonging are important parts of early childhood education.

We also understand that every family is different.

For families seeking fewer than five days per week, limited part-week enrollment may be available based on space and scheduling. We encourage families to talk with us about what works best for their child and family.

Vermont Universal Pre-K —Act 166

Publicly Funded Pre-K May Reduce Your Tuition

Vermont’s Universal Prekindergarten program, commonly known as Act 166, provides eligible Vermont children access to publicly funded Pre-K education.

Under the current program, eligible children are entitled to 10 hours per week of publicly funded Pre-K for 35 weeks of the school year at an approved Pre-K program. For the 2026–27 school year, Vermont’s statewide UPK tuition amount is $4,106 per child.

Mountain Explorers intends to participate in Vermont’s Universal Pre-K program and meet all applicable Act 166 requirements.
