Sierra Wennberg-Smith joins the MSW faculty in 2026 as the Upper School Math and Science Teacher. She comes to MSW after teaching science to students in grades five to eight at Marlboro School. Prior to that, Sierra held a temporary fifth-grade teaching position at Monument Elementary School and completed her student teaching in middle school mathematics and science at Winooski Middle School.

Sierra earned her degree in Middle Level Education with a concentration in mathematics and science from the University of Vermont. She also completed a dual certificate in Place-Based Education with a focus on the benefits of school garden programs and holds a Vermont teaching license in middle school mathematics and science.

Sierra is passionate about helping students discover the connections between their learning and the world around them. She strives to weave the environment and local community into her daily teaching, celebrating each student’s individuality and recognizing the unique perspective and strengths that every learner brings to the classroom. Sierra believes that meaningful learning begins with understanding and valuing each student’s place in the larger puzzle of the school community.

Outside of school, Sierra enjoys making jewelry, gardening, and spending time in nature with her dog, Athena. She lives in Jamaica, Vermont, and is excited to begin this new chapter with the MSW community.
