Christine began her life in dance at the age of six. She attended the School of American Ballet, The American Ballet Center (the Joffrey School), and studied with Maggie Black in New York. Her professional performing career began at age fifteen as a member of the Joffrey II Ballet Company and then as a member of the Joffrey Ballet Company. After several years with the Tharp Company, Christine decided to retire from dancing full time and moved to Vermont where she now lives with her daughter and husband. Her love of shape, texture, color and movement led her to start a clothing
store that specialized in young, emerging designers. Since closing her business after fourteen successful years, Christine has been, among other things, raising her daughter Miya and studying Koro Ken Karate. She currently holds the rank of third-degree brown belt and will be testing for her black belt this September. She also assists her sensei in teaching the children's karate classes. Christine has continued to stay involved in the dance world, working with Company C Ballet of Walnut Creek, California, staging Twyla Tharp's Eight Jelly Rolls and Country Dances, which was performed in the summer of 2006 at the Joyce Theater in New York. Christine's interest in working with children has led her into the Special Education field. Last year she worked as a paraprofessional educator at the Twin Valley Middle School in Whitingham, Vermont, work that she found both intensely challenging and rewarding. She has also co-developed and directed an integrated arts program and taught Creative Physical Education for grades PK-8. At The Mountain School at Winhall, Christine plans to continue working with children of all ages, teaching healthy life skills, a love for creative physical activity, and nurturing respectful human values.
