Homework Policy
The requirements for each grade are a little bit different and are listed below. However, I would like your child’s homework to be limited to no more than 20 minutes a night.
As I have told the children, it is most important that they practice reading every night. I will be sending reading materials home Monday-Thursday nights. The reading will come home in a “book bag”. This bag needs to be returned every morning so that new reading material can be sent home. In addition, I am asking that you sign a reading log every night. This is my confirmation that your child has done their reading practice.
Math homework will also be sent home. For students that have math in my room (first graders) Home Connections from the Bridges math program or other practice work will be sent home occasionally as needed. For students that have Mr. Ahfeld (second graders), they will be getting math on most Mondays and will be due on Fridays. You may help your child with their homework, but please write a quick note on the bottom explaining what specific problem(s) you helped them with.
Your student will also be bringing home a spelling folder with weekly spelling words to practice. The folder will be in their “book bag” with practice suggestions. Please keep this folder in their “book bag”.
